"Worst Picture of 2009"
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

"Worst Director"
Michael Bay

Those are just two of the three awards given to Transformers at the 30th Annual Razzie Awards. I know a lot of people look at these words in sheer confusion, but I really do agree. Sure, Transformers 2 was an awesome movie, but "awesome" does not always translate to "good". Nobody in their right mind would say the film had a noteworthy plot, and the character development, if any, was either nonexistent or comically shallow. I am not saying that people are wrong for enjoying the movie because I am one of them. Transformers does it for the thrill not for substance. It didn't need to be well written or thought out to accomplish what it wanted to accomplish. Still, it was a fundamentally bad movie. Think of it as the "God of War" of film; Sure it's fun, but there really isn't much beneath the surface.

Doing it for the thrill,

Being the only person on the face of the planet that has yet to see Avatar, I can't help but think about whether or not all the hype surrounding 3D technology will stand true. The recent, or not so much, Consumer Electronics Show(CES) brought word that the newest tech-trend for the coming year will be the integration of 3D tech into the movie-going experience. I am going to take a wild guess and say that Avatar is to 3D as Cloverfield was to the handicam. This worries me. Soon after Cloverfield, films that used a similar presentation flooded theaters. This was a cool trend at first, but eventually it became a gimmick. Don't get the wrong idea, I personally love the style, but only when done RIGHT. This brings about the big question: How many directors can really wrap their mind around the concept of 3D cinematography? How long will it take before these original ideas are cast away as a passing trend, as opposed to being the logical next step for the film industry?

Always in question,

This morning I was going through the usual paces of web-surfing when I discovered a news story that put a smile on my face. Then, I realized what exactly that meant and the smile faded. The news in question is that Paramount wants to have a "Paranormal Activity" sequel out by Halloween. This seems like great news to fans of the first, but is this really what we should want? This may just be my cynical side talking, but won't a sequel kill what made the original so special? Well I have my own thoughts on the subject, but what do you think? Leave a comment below.

What does that mean? It means there will be a lot more of me around much more often. I've got some things in mind that I really want to try out. Until then, HAVE FUN!

Cloverfield 2. That probably will not be the title of the film. However, in my absence Sidd440 has found a gem of beautiful news. Apparently Mtv has interviewed Abrams on the topic of a sequel, and in it we heard some very familiar words. The studio is messing with ideas and is still in the early stages of pre-development. Any news is better than no news. So is this all a cover? Is Abrams just trying to make the press happy? OR is he just trying to fool us into thinking it will be a long time until we get another movie just so he can surprise us all again with a reveal in the near future? Hey, anything can happen.
